Avery's Bucket List

If you haven't already seen this blog, you need to. This is a bucket list for little Avery who was diagnosed with SMA level 1 on Good Friday. Avery is 5 months old, and her parents have been told that chances are she will not make it to see her second birthday. Her dad writes the blog about all of the dreams they have for Avery as if she were to grow up to be an adult. It is super sweet. Please go check it out.

JES Second Grade PTO program

Thursday night the second graders at JES presented the PTO program at school. They did a wonderful job presenting the life cycle of a butterfly.

DJ's buddy Ryan asking everyone to please stand for the pledge.
 Presenting the standard
 DJ was very nervous
The skit was a tour of the life cycle of a butterfly.

My Own Personal Air Show... AKA @Absolutspaceguy's Blue Angel Flight

Yesterday afternoon, I was treated to my own personal air show at Robins.

Well ok so that is an exaggeration. My friend from the STS-135, and Space Camp tweetups, Charles aka  @absolutspaceguy, had the opportunity to take a flight with the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels, the Navy
show team, are in town for the Robins Air Force Base Air Show this coming weekend. So I drove to the base to watch his flight.
Here his plane is taxing for take off.
Take off!

They performed the Eagle take off maneuver where the plane pretty much goes vertical.

One of the Air Force Pilots could not be left out of the fun, or be shown up by the Navy, so he did the same thing within minutes of Charles' flight.

After about 45 minutes Charles' plane came back in, they did a fly by first.

If only Charles had known to look out the right hand side of the cockpit, he could have waved. :-)
One of the other sights to see was this, Jet Powered Bus.... It will be on exhibit this weekend at the air show!

Pat Tillman Foundation/Arizona State University Alumni Association Georgia Chapter Shadow Run

Saturday in Tempe Arizona the 8th annual Pat's Run was ran by 28,000 people to honor the memory of Pat Tillman, and to raise money for the Pat Tillman Foundation. The Pat Tillman Foundation raises money for scholarships that are given to Military Members and Spouses. To date they have raised and given over $2.2 million dollars in scholarships to military members and spouses around the country.

Since it is a long way from Georgia to Arizona the local ASU Alumni group put on a Shadow Run in Dacula, GA. We ran/walked the 2.2 mile trail (twice) at Little Mulberry Park, in memory of Pat.

The first two arriving. The young man on the right is a member of the kids run.
 Members after the race

The guy in gold? He is one of the Tillman Military Scholars. I wish I had gotten his name!

After the run. :-) I did the 4.2 miles in about 58 minutes. My goal for next year's Shadow Run, is to actually be able to run it. :-)

Girl's Lunch

Girls' Lunch
I appreciate the guest post, Jamie Guy
I have got to get cable tv! All of my friends are talking non-stop about their new favorite shows and I am totally out of the loop because I have no idea what they are talking about. We go to lunch everyday together and it is always a great time for us to catch up and talk about whatever we want to. Except that all they have wanted to talk about is what is happening on their favorite show and what they think is going to happen next week and all about what has already happened during the season. Then they move on to American Idol and they feel the need to talk about and critique each contestant on the show and talk about who they think is going to win and how they reacted when the last person got voted off the night before. I have seriously felt like I was in high school again and I wasn't one of the popular girls! I feel so left out. Plus all of the shows that they are talking about sound really good!
