#WHTweetup Part Two Mrs. Cleveland Goes to the Official White House Welcoming Ceremony for the Prime Minister from the United Kingdom

On March 14th, 2012, I along with about 50 other members of the social media site Twitter, was invited to the White House to attend the Official Welcoming Ceremony for Prime Minister David Cameron of the United Kingdom. These are my pictures from the actual ceremony.

Our first sight of the President and the First Lady, as they walked out of the White House.
The President and First Lady await the arrival of Prime Minister Cameron and Mrs. Cameron.
President Obama walking with Prime Minister Cameron to the podium.

President Obama and Prime Minister Cameron arriving on the stage for the national anthems of both countries. There is something unbelievable about the power of listening to these two songs on the South Lawn of the White House, in the presence of the President. I had goose bumps. Plus the memories of living in the United Kingdom and hearing the two national anthems being played each night.

President Obama and Prime Minister Cameron conducting the Troops review.

President Obama watching the performance.

President Obama giving his welcoming remarks. At one point President Obama referenced the first time the British came to the White House 200 years ago. President Obama said that they really "Lit the place up" (War of 1812, the British burned both the Capitol Building, and the White House).

Prime Minister Cameron giving his remarks. The Prime Minister played off of President Obama's jokes, saying that he noticed "White House security has greatly improved" since his ancestors first came to the White House 200 years ago.

Both President Obama and Prime Minister Cameron talked a great deal about all of the alliances  between our two countries. President Obama steered clear of most topics that are hot button topics for the Presidential Campaign.

From left to right: Samantha Cameron, First Lady Michelle Obama (looking very chic as always), Prime Minister Cameron, and President Obama.

Being invited to, and attending this event were truly once in a lifetime experiences. No matter if I agree with the President or not, the opportunity to attend is something that I will never ever forget, and something that I will remember for as long as I shall live.
The pageantry, pomp and circumstance, and atmosphere made the event were such that I had goose bumps from the moment the band started playing until well after the President, First Lady, Prime Minister, and Mrs. Cameron entered the White House to sign the official guest register.

There were a few things that could have made the experience just a few better. I know that I have been very spoiled with my experiences with the NASATweetup and SpaceCampTweetup. The main thing I would have changed would have been for our Tweetup group to have had an assigned space to stand at the event itself, where we would not have been jockeying for space, and views with the other 6,950 people that were invited. I was able to see through my camera, and get some very nice pictures, however some of my fellow tweeps, were not.

#MAMAVATION #2weekchallenge Day 6 @mrbookieboo

This morning I slept in a lot later than I had planned, but when I got up I did my first full length Pat's Run training walk. 4.5 Miles around the "big block". It took me right at an hour to complete and it wouldn't have been that long, but I saw my friend Sharon and her husband Bruce out working in their yard so I stopped and talked with them for a couple of minutes.

This afternoon I completed another session of my 30 day shred Jillian Michaels video.

This evening we had the school Spring Fling so I got the rest of my steps in at that. Total Step Count for the day 15, 345.

#WHTweetup Part One Official Welcome Ceremony for the Prime Minister of the UK David Cameron Prior to the official ceremony

On March 14th, 2012, I was invited along with about 50 other members of the social network Twitter to attend the Official Welcome Ceremony for the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron and his wife Samantha. We along with 6,950 other people arrived at the White House at dawn to get the best possible view of the ceremony. These are some of the pictures I took before the ceremony began.

7:00 am Sunrise, the Washington Monument, and the Moon, as people are filing in to the South Lawn of the White House.

My cousin Glen and I waiting for the ceremony to begin. You can just see the Eisenhower Building behind us, this is where our briefing would be held later in the day.

If you look closely towards the left of this shot, there is a man bending down petting the First Dog Bo. Bo is the only member of the First Family that I was able to meet on my trip, he and I ran into each other on Thursday while I was on my White House tour. Very well trained dog.

As the military troops enter the South Lawn in preparation for the troops review.
The Color Guard entering the South Lawn. As a military spouse scenes like this make you very proud.
Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, in green, Dr. Jill Biden, the Second Lady, and Vice President Biden awaiting the arrival of the President, First Lady, Prime Minister Cameron and Mrs. Cameron.
The Drum and Bugle Corp standing at attention waiting for the President and First Lady. During this time the President's Band was playing American and British patriotic tunes, which for this military spouse was very moving.

#mamavation #2weekchallenge Day 5 @mrbookieboo

‎#Mamavation #2weekChallenge Day 5, WOW! Almost a week in and I can feel the difference already!  The exercises are getting easier, the cardio doesn't make me feel like I am going to die, and my jeans are a little looser! I don't think that anyone can see a difference, but I can feel a difference, and that's what matters to me!

Final step count 16,954 (unless I get another burst of energy when Jerry and Natalie get home from watching Hunger Games and go to the gym), which includes 2, 1.6 mile walks around the block with DJ, walking laps with my students at recess, plus my normal every day walking around work and home. I am sure anyone of our neighbors that happened to look out their windows on our second walk thought I was insane, because I did the Couch to 5K program for real (it was hard to do the first walk with DJ on his bike) and during the jogging sections I was using my arms like I do on the elliptical at the gym to get my heart rate up there.

I also did level one of the 30 day Shred (which I am finding to get easier each time I do it, just like Jillian says you will.) ;-) Some times I feel like I get a better workout at the gym than I do with the Shred, but I can feel the Shred workout longer. So in the gym I feel it right away, but with the Shred I feel it right away, but that feeling lasts just a little bit longer. Guess that means I need to step up my gym routine. ;-)

Quotes in the Library Of Congress

When visiting Washington DC, I told myself that I wanted to make sure that I was able to visit places that Jerry, the kids and I did not get a chance to see when we were there in 2005. The Library of Congress is one of those places. You can not take pictures in many of the places in the Library, but in the main hall you can. As a teacher, these are the ones that spoke to me.

#mamavation #2weekchallenge Day 4 @MrBookieBoo

Totals for Day 3 of the Mamavation Two Week Challenge:

16,415 steps, 35 minutes of which were on the elliptical, 1.6 miles walking with the family, and six laps on our playground field with my students at recess.

25 minutes of weights, mostly on my arms, but a few shoulders thrown in. Curls, rows, pull downs etc.

I was worried earlier today that I wouldn't get my step count in because we had afterschool program, and then the PTO program. But I managed it! Each day is a little bit easier. :-)

Visiting the National Mall and the Smithsonian #MathAlive

While visiting DC, of course I had to visit several of the Smithsonian Museums. On my travels I started at George Washington University, walked to the White House, then to the Washington Monument, up the Mall to the Capitol Building, which of course takes you right through all of the museums. I visited the American Indian Museum, Air and Space, Ripley Building, and the Smithsonian Castle.

Air and Space

Math Alive! If you are in the DC area between now and June, you must go to the Ripley Building Basement to visit the Math Alive exhibit.

#Mamavation #2weekchallenge Day 3 Wrap Up @MrBookieBoo

Well today my step count went down a little, and I am not quite sure why, because I thought I actually walked more, but maybe not. Sigh

So today I have done:
15,730 steps, 30 minutes of which were on the elliptical, 1.6 mile walk around the block with Jerry and DJ, and walking laps at recess with my students. Which that part I have to say is getting pretty crowded as more and more of my kids are walking laps instead of just playing. ;-)

45 minutes of weight training, I only did about 3/4 of the circuit tonight, as really it should have been a night of going easier than I did.

Please Join me at the 8th Annual Pat's Run Shadow Run in Atlanta April 21st!

Good Morning,
My name is Patricia Cleveland and I am a spouse of a member in the 5th Support Squadron. I am also an Arizona State University Alumni. I am looking for help getting the word out to all military members in Middle Georgia about the 8th Annual Pat's Run, which raises money to benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation. As I am sure you are aware Pat Tillman was a professional football player who left the NFL to become an Army Ranger, and ultimately lost his life in Afghanistan. In his memory his family and close friends organized the Pat Tillman Foundation to award scholarships to military personnel and their spouses. Each year for the last seven years in April the Pat Tillman Foundation along with Arizona State University has sponsored at 4.2 mile run in Pat's name to raise money for this scholarship fund. Around the country Shadow Runs have been formed, for those of us who live to far away from Tempe to participate in the main run.

This year's Pat's Run Shadow Run Atlanta will take place at Little Mulberry Park (Miller Lake Trail)3900 Hog Mountain Rd Dacula, GA 30019, on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.

I have an electronic copy of the official flier that I can send to you and to all personnel who may be interested in participating in this great event. All proceeds go to benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation to provide for military scholarships.

I am including the flier here as well.
