Third grade standards in Georgia talk about Plants and Animals in Georgia and how they interract.
Our science book does a poor job of working with the Georgia plants and animals, so we are doing the best we can with what we have, and bringing in other resources. It is interesting, especially seeing how I am not from around here, so I have to depend a lot on others via the internet or my fellow teachers.
One of the assignments we gave to our kids was to make a model of a plant cell, labeling and describing all of the parts of the cell. We got in some pretty neat specimens thats for sure! The other two third grade classes are just now completing the projects and turning them in, so they are getting some that are more elaborate than ours were.
